New Restrictions for Cosmetic Ingredients and Analytical Support
With the publication of Commission Regulation (EU) 2026/909, the European regulatory framework for cosmetic products has been further updated through amendments to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
The new regulation introduces significant changes for several cosmetic‑relevant substances, including new restrictions, conditions of use, concentration limits, and specific requirements related to impurities, thereby modifying Annexes II, III, V and VI.
Why Act Now
These updates require a thorough review of formulations, raw materials, technical documentation, the Product Information File, and, where necessary, the safety assessment. For multiple substances, non‑compliant products may no longer be placed on the EU market from 1 January 2027 and may no longer be made available from 1 July 2028, or 1 August 2028 for certain entries.
