Glycidyl Esters Analysis: Neotron Method Aligned with Regulation (EU) 2026/1825

Neotron provides an accredited analytical method for the determination of glycidyl esters of fatty acids (GE), 3-MCPD esters and 2-MCPD esters, for the control of process contaminants in edible oils and fats.

Regulation (EU) 2026/1825 has updated the regulatory definition of the parameter related to glycidyl esters of fatty acids. The revised definition explicitly acknowledges the use of indirect analytical methods employed by official control laboratories, which may determine the combined contribution of related compounds.

Neotron's analytical approach is fully consistent with the principles of AOCS Official Method Cd 29a-13 and the subsequently published ISO 18363-3 standard. Through specific conversion and derivatization steps, the method quantifies the total content of glycidyl esters present in the sample and expresses the result as glycidol, in line with internationally recognized methodologies.

This makes the method a suitable and reliable tool for assessing compliance with the current regulatory requirements applicable to oils, fats and related food products.
