Stability Testing & Period After Opening (PAO) for Cosmetics

Our stability studies on cosmetic products are realized to verify that the quality and safety characteristics of the formulations remain constant over time.

The Stability Test aims to study the behavior of a cosmetic product when exposed to stress, recreating critical conditions that it could potentially encounter during its life cycle.

Depending on the nature of the product to be monitored, the study protocol includes the monitoring of the most significant chemical-physical, microbiological, and sensory indicators, such as:

  • Sensory characteristics: appearance, color, odour
  • Physico-chemical indicators: pH, viscosity, density
  • Microbiological properties: TYMC, TAMC, challenge test
  • Monitoring of active substances: UV filters, functional active ingredients, etc.
  • Control of the possible development of molecules subject to restrictions
  • Packaging-product compatibility
  • PAO (Period After Opening) determination

Thanks to the expertise of Neotron's laboratory in analytical determinations, and the Sen&CA team in sensory analysis, it is possible to support the customer with the development of tailor-made study protocols and an integrated interpretation of the analytical-sensory data collected.
