Radioactivity on food: analytical detection of Cs 137 and Cs 134

New equipment for the detection of contamination from Cs 137 and Cs 134 or, through the collaboration of a specialized laboratory, any other radionuclides, in order to be able to respond to regulatory requirements.

Radioactivity on water intended to human consumption

Neotron’s technical staff is available to give detailed information about the proper sampling procedures.

Main benefit of new equipment

High sensitivity ( Cs 134 +Cs 137 detection limit 10 Bq/Kg)
Quick answer

Operating principles

The determination of the activity attributable to radionuclides gamma, artificial and natural emitters of Cesium 134 and Cesium 137 is performed by direct measurement in fixed container and  geometry, using a Gamma spectrometer,  consisting of a scintillator, a photomultiplier and a detector.

Main matrices analysed

Milk, meat, cheese, spices, fruit, fish, potatoes, blueberry, berries, strawberry, food supplements, tomato, water.
