Nutritional analyses are useful in order to develop nutrition labels that conform to Reg 1169/2011 and subsequent amendments and additions. Another purpose is to verify the compliance of any nutritional or health claim on the label.

Laboratory analyses are essential to:

• Verify compliance with respect to product classifications provided for by national and EU regulations;
• Verify the conformity of foods with the technical specifications of DOP/IGP production;
• Verification of the Nutritional Profile - Development of Nutritional Tables
• Verification of Health and Nutritional Claims (EC Reg. 1924/2006 and EU Reg. 432/2012)

Nutritional Analysis in food supplements

Food supplements are excluded from the obligation to indicate nutritional values.The obligation is related to the indication of the name of the categories of nutrients or other substances that characterize the product. The quantities of the nutrients or other substances declared refer to the daily dose of product recommended by the manufacturer as shown on the label.

The indication of nutritional values ​​referred to 100g of product, as in conventional products, can be misleading.

In case you require nutritional values on food supplements, given the high concentration of nutrients it is essential to provide the laboratory with all the information available about the composition of the product. The laboratory will process specific analytical profile for the product in question.

Nutritional labels for extra EU markets
